2nd in the ESPN Power Rankings for the Lightning’s goalie duo. In a nutshell, the years 2020-21 are as follows: Won the Stanley Cup with a record of 36-17-3.

Most intriguing player: After the Lightning won their second straight Stanley Cup, Nikita Kucherov gave a naked, beer-soaked interview. (My personal favorite line is Kucherov yelling at a struggling Zoom interviewer, “Buy new microphone!”) After missing the whole regular season due to surgery for a hip labrum rupture and a five-month recovery period, he scored a playoff-best 32 points in 23 games (of open salary-cap space).

Since 2019-20, we haven’t seen Kuch play in the regular season. The 28-year-old Russian finished second in total points (213) behind Leon Draisaitl in the previous two regular seasons and won the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2018-19. Kucherov, welcome return to the regular season. You were much missed. Greg Wyshynski (Greg Wyshynski)

  • After missing the entire 2020-21 regular season due to hip surgery, Kucherov returned to lead the NHL in playoff points for the second consecutive season, with 32. Wayne Gretzky (four different spans) and Mario Lemieux are the only players in NHL history with more points in a two-postseason period (78 points in the 1991 and 1992 Stanley Cup playoffs).

  • Victor Hedman has 429 points in the 2013-14 season, behind only Brent Burns (483) and Erik Karlsson (483) among defenders (462).

  • With 149 wins in the last four seasons, Andrei Vasilevskiy is the winningest goaltender in the NHL. In that time, his.921 save percentage is second only to Ben Bishop’s.923 among goalies who have played at least 100 games.

ESPN Power Rankings for the Golden Knights: 3 Goalie tandem rank: 7 2020-21 at a glance: The team went 40-14-2 and fell in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Most intriguing player: Robin Lehner has been one of the most talked-about players in the NHL preseason due to his comments: Protesting the Sabres’ treatment of his buddy Jack Eichel, labeling coaches like Alain Vigneault of the Philadelphia Flyers abusive “dinosaurs,” and accused NHL clubs of providing players pain medicine without prescriptions.

But he’ll be one of the most talked-about players throughout the regular season, as he’ll be in charge of guiding the Golden Knights to a Stanley Cup victory. Marc-Andre Fleury isn’t there as a competitor or a safety net. Now it’s time for the Robin Lehner Show. Greg Wyshynski (Greg Wyshynski)

  • Mark Stone has the most assists (88) and points (135) on the club since joining the Golden Knights on Feb. 26, 2019, after a trade-deadline transaction with the Ottawa Senators, and his 47 goals are second only to Max Pacioretty’s (60) and Reilly Smith’s (50).

  • Will Stone’s 5-on-5 statistics continue to fluctuate? Stone scored 12 5-on-5 goals in 2019-20, although his shooting percentage was just 9.7%. Last season, his 5-on-5 shooting percentage went all the way up to 20.9 percent, good for seventh best among players playing 10 minutes per game.

  • Marc-Andre Fleury, the NHL’s top goaltender, was moved to the Blackhawks this summer after winning the Vezina Trophy. Dominik Hasek, who won the Vezina Trophy with the Sabres in 2000-01 and was moved to the Detroit Red Wings in July 2001, is the only goaltender in the previous 40 years to win the award and then not return to the same club the following season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

  • The Golden Knights’ No. 1 goaltender, Robin Lehner, takes over. Last season, he and Fleury won the Jennings Trophy as a team for allowing the fewest goals throughout the regular season. Since joining the Golden Knights at the 2020 trade deadline, Lehner has gone 16-4-2 in regular season with a.917 save percentage and two shutouts in 22 games.

  • Last season, the Golden Knights had two of the six most often utilized 5-on-5 lines, according to Stathletes: Mark Stone-Max Pacioretty-Chandler Stephenson played together 441 minutes, which was sixth most in the NHL. Reilly Smith-Jonathan Marchessault-William Karlsson played together 540 minutes, which was second most in the NHL.

ESPN Power Rankings for Kraken: 25 Rank of goalie duo: 3

Many have speculated which member of the Seattle Kraken will be their version of William Karlsson, who went from being a depth player with the Blue Jackets to a 43-goal revelation in the Knights’ inaugural season, thanks to the unending comparisons to their recent expansion brethren, the Golden Knights.

Jared McCann, a six-year NHL veteran with the Canucks, Panthers, and Penguins (as well as Toronto, though he didn’t play a game there), is the current frontrunner. He’s an analytics favorite who, between Jaden Schwartz and Jordan Eberle, is projected to be the team’s top-line center. Now all he needs is a moniker as cool as Karlsson’s “Wild Bill.” Greg Wyshynski (Greg Wyshynski)

  • Jordan Eberle is the only player on the Kraken’s roster to have scored at least 30 goals in a season, which he did in 2011-12 with the Edmonton Oilers in his second NHL season. Eberle (six times), Jaden Schwartz (three times), Yanni Gourde (twice), Marcus Johansson (twice), and Mark Giordano are the only Kraken players to score at least 20 goals in a season (once).

  • With five points apiece in four games during the preseason, Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann led the Kraken in scoring. When he came here from the Blues, Schwartz signed the Kraken’s longest-term agreement for a forward, a five-year deal for $27.5 million. The Kraken grabbed McCann from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the expansion draft, despite the fact that he had never played for them. On July 17, McCann was traded from the Penguins to the Leafs.

  • Vince Dunn, a defenseman for the Kraken, scored three goals in the preseason. Dunn has 32 all-situations goals and 11 power-play goals in four NHL seasons, second only to Alex Pietrangelo among Blues defenders.

  • Philipp Grubauer and Chris Driedger, the Kraken’s goaltenders, are coming off great seasons in 2021-22. Grubauer was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, ending with 30 victories, one shy of the league lead (Andrei Vasilevskiy had 31), and an NHL-leading.922 save percentage. With the Panthers, Driedger went 14-6-3, with a.927 save percentage that tied for fourth highest among qualified goalies.
