The Cleveland Browns are heading into their final game of the NFL season with a chance to clinch a postseason spot, but they’re dealing with one massive injury that could completely derail their chances. The question is: how will this affect them?
The “browns playoff chances 2021” is a term that has been used to describe the Cleveland Browns since they were founded. The team has always had the potential to make it deep into the playoffs, but their recent injury could derail their chances of making it this year.
The Cleveland Browns have a 3-1 record thus far this season. They’re in the thick of the AFC North battle and will almost certainly compete for a Wild Card playoff berth all season.
Baker Mayfield, the team’s starting quarterback, is still the subject of speculation.
Despite the Browns’ overall success, Mayfield has only thrown two touchdown passes this season and has a quarterback rating of only 40. If Mayfield keeps going in this direction, he’ll have his lowest QBR in his career.
Baker Mayfield is out with an injury.
Baker Mayfield, who has been wearing a shoulder harness while playing, sustained a partly torn labrum in his left shoulder against the #Texans on Sept 19, according to sources. As of now, no surgery is required. After the injury, he was included on the report and has yet to miss a practice snap.

Why is Mayfield having trouble? It’s a simple question with a simple solution.
He’s got a torn shoulder, yet he’s still playing.
Mayfield tore the labrum in his left shoulder on September 19 against the Houston Texans, according to Ian Rapoport (and a few other NFL writers). Mayfield is right-handed, thus his throwing arm is unaffected by this ailment. During games, though, he is still required to wear a shoulder harness.
Football is a full-contact sport that involves the whole body. Mayfield’s ability to play quarterback as he has in the past is likely to be hampered by the addition of a shoulder harness/brace.
The Cleveland Browns’ chances of making the playoffs are in jeopardy.
Baker Mayfield’s off-target percentage in the first two games was 8%, according to @ESPNStatsInfo (2nd best in the NFL). His off-target percentage has been 32 percent in the previous two games (because to the shoulder ailment) (which ranks last in the league). #Browns

Mayfield is one of the NFL’s most often chastised quarterbacks. He is, however, still critical to the Browns’ hopes of reaching the playoffs this season.
Due to the rise of Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, the AFC North is just getting better. If their quarterback cannot produce at a high level, the Browns may easily be left in the dust.
The throwing attack is also a big part of the Browns’ offense. Downfield targets are needed by Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr., and tight end Austin Hooper is being paid handsomely to perform like an exceptional pass-catcher.

They’re 3-1 on the season despite Mayfield’s shoulder injury, and they still have one of the NFL’s most talented teams. There’s a route to success hidden somewhere inside this maze.
The most obvious first move is to become a run-first squad led by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Both guys are very good running backs who have previously shown their ability to lead an attack. With over 1,200 scrimmage yards in 2020, getting the ball to Chubb at a high rate is critical.
In addition, the Browns’ attack will almost certainly need to be restructured to include fewer deep attempts. Due of the explosiveness of someone like Beckham Jr., this is an unpleasant truth. Keeping additional pressure off Mayfield’s upper body, on the other hand, takes precedence.
Of course, as Mayfield fights through wearing a shoulder harness, the Browns’ defense will have to step up as well. They’ve already had a good start, thanks to ace pass-rusher Myles Garrett. More output is required.
It’s almost difficult to navigate the NFL environment with an injured quarterback. The Browns, on the other hand, aren’t out of the woods yet. They have enough skill on the roster to compensate for some of Mayfield’s present shortcomings. Only time will tell whether they’ll be successful.
