Will Smith has said that his picture Wild Wild West is a “thorn in his side” and that it is the worst film he has ever made — ouch.
As he pondered on his acting career, the Hollywood actor was asked what he thought his greatest and worst movies were, and he confessed that the 1999 Western film was his least favorite.
‘For the best, I believe it’s a tie between the original Men in Black and Pursuit of Happiness,’ he remarked in an episode of Actually Me for GQ. Those are the two almost-perfect films, each for different reasons.
‘Worst? I’m not sure, but Wild Wild West is a thorn in my side. To picture myself in a pair of chaps… It does not appeal to me.’
Will, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, and Salma Hayek starred in the steampunk Western, which flopped at the box office and was nominated for eight Golden Raspberry Awards, which honor cinematic underachievement.
Will managed to earn both a Golden Raspberry for worst original song and a number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with Wild Wild West, repeating his feat from Men in Black, when he sang the film’s theme song while also acting in the picture. Some games are won, while others are lost.

Meanwhile, in the November edition of sister magazine British GQ, Will discussed his career choices, stating that he has always intended to concentrate on “Black greatness” rather than create films about slavery.
‘I’ve always avoided creating films on slavery,’ he said. I didn’t want to portray Black people in that way at the beginning of my career. I aspired to be a superhero when I was little.
‘As a result, I wanted to show Black brilliance alongside white greatness.’ I wanted to play parts that you’d cast Tom Cruise in.’
But don’t worry, Men in Black is still Will’s second favorite film (photo courtesy of Columbia Pictures/Getty Images). )
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor claimed that he almost changed his mind about starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, but opted against it because he “didn’t want to create a slavery picture about revenge,” and the part was eventually given to Jamie Foxx.

Will’s latest film Emancipation is based on the real tale of Gordon, a man who escaped slavery and joined the Union Army, with published photos of his scars dating back to 1863 proving slavery’s brutality to the abolitionist cause.
The 53-year-old claims that calling the forthcoming film a “slavery movie” is a “disservice,” as he views it as more about “love and the strength of Black love.”
